“How to modify WordPress default theme?” This came about when one of my friend, Clinton Lim, ask how he could put up his picture and change a couple of colors of the WordPress default theme – also commonly known as Kubrick.  I am not a css expert and don’t intend to be one, so with my limited HTML & image editing knowledge I took on the tasks as an educational learning journey. So what do I do?  The simpler the better – right ?  Clinton had some fairly clear needs, he wants

• A dark blue header image
• His picture and logo in the header image
• Title and Description of the Blog to be left justified
• A light blue body on the post and a separate light blue background for the sidebar
• Berlin Sans FB 20 pt font in white for the Blog Title
• Arial Bold 11 pt font in white for the Blog Description
• Berlin Sans FB (italised) 14 pt font in dull pink  for the tagline
• Arial Bold 9.5 pt font in white for his name right justified under his picture

Clinton even gave me a penciled artwork, a coloured layout, his picture and logo too. So, using my limited knowledge and worked on the easiest parts, that would be the images used in the layout.  In the images folder of the default theme, I found the images for the header, footer and body and set about using graphic editing tools to edit them. Finally, opened up the file named style.css in PSPad Editor, did a couple of trial and error changes and viola!  All in all, it took me a total of about 4 man hours, so here it is the sample at http://limpengheng.com/clintonlim
